Kanchanjunga Base camp trek is a less crowded, full of natural beauty and cultural heritage. This Trek can be done North and South Base camp Both ways. Mt Kanchenjunga (8586m) is the third highest mountain in the world. This mountain is Bordering Indian Sikkim. The Trekking was opened since 1988, and is an adventurous trek that takes you to the remote areas of the eastern Himalayan region of Nepal, and offers pristine nature, unspoiled culture, as well as a classic Himalayan vista of towering mountains. On this trek, you will enjoy the tantalizing views of the four of the five world’s highest mountains, Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, and Kanchenjunga. The wide range of scenery, with terraced hills with wheat and potato cultivation, lush tropical forest with chestnut and oak, Rhododendron flower leading to the alpine zone, provides you peace and inspiration throughout the trek. The trek also offers an experience of the unique and rich culture of the ethnic Rai, Limbu, and Sherpa communities, almost untouched by the modern world. The diverse and fascinating landscape passes through a conservation area of a wide variety of flora and fauna, river valleys, waterfalls and high passes.
Kanchenjunga North and south base camp begin with the flight from Kathmandu to Sukhetar airstrip. Kanchenjunga Base Camp can be approached from the Indian side, but from Nepal, side provides you with the full experience of the Kanchenjunga region. From Sukhetar you walk up through the GhunsaKhola valley through the Rhododendron forest, to the Himalayan region. As you reach the higher altitude, the scenery is dominated by a long-range of the mountain vistas. In the Kanchenjunga range, you can see four high mountains above 8000m, along with Mt. Kanchenjunga at 8586m. On this trek, you cross the two high passes, the lapsang La pass, and the Sinon pass. The Kanchenjunga is a long and adventurous trek that does require prior experience of trekking and a good physical condition. The best seasons to visit for the Kanchenjunga trek are autumn and spring when the weather is clear and you can enjoy clear views of the mountains and the natural scenery.
